Scouting 101

Discover the possibilities at summer camp!

There is so much going on to help your Scouts have fun getting back to the basics of Scouting this summer at our Scouting 101 summer camp. A new hands on, experiential style of teaching will be used in all of our merit badge teaching. Troops will also get to challenge their skills in our afternoon competitions between units. Finally, for those Scouts that are ready to take the next step on their advancement path we have Advanced Eagle Academy to provide peer and adult mentorship to help them get started with their eagle project and Eagle required merit badges.

Advanced Eagle Academy

Advanced Eagle Academy is a program designed to help Scouts plan for successful Eagle Scout projects. Scouts receive one-on-one mentorship in project planning, financing, and budgeting, volunteer recruitment, and project assessment from a former Reservation Director. Scouts begin work on Communication and Personal Management Merit Badges and leave with a tentative plan for their Eagle Scout project.

Scouts can participate in Advanced Eagle acedemy as a program area when attending camp with their unit or during our Advanced Eagle Academy program week June 30 – July 3. During this shortened week Scouts will also have the opportunity to participate in our COPE program, shooting sports, and lake front activities.

NYLT is a leadership course developed by the Boy Scouts of America to enable Scouting youth to lead their units. NYLT uses the methods of Scouting to teach leadership skills. A week is spent in an environment that exemplifies the “best” that Scouting can be and is the vision that Baden-Powell intended.
