Mid-Iowa Council is committed to rebuilding Mitigwa Scout Reservation and ensuring the safety of all Scouts, leaders, Camp Staff, and visitors.

Evaluate and Fundraise

First and foremost we must evaluate the extensive damage and file insurance claims. We are working with community leaders, corporate partners, and construction industry professionals to develop our comprehensive rebuilding plan. Insurance will not cover everything. Together we can all contribute to the massive rebuilding effort. Every dollar helps.

Rebuild

In the cleanup process all adult volunteers can help removing debris, clearing fallen trees, and assessing damage across the reservation. Scouters with expertise in the skilled trades will be valuable every step of the way. Priority rebuilding projects requiring both skilled and unskilled labor will be ongoing indefinitely. Together we can all contribute to Mitigwa’s physical recovery.

Improve

One thing this storm has taught us is that we are in need of upgrading our infrastructure and dire need of concrete storm shelters to protect all Scouts and Scouters. Together we will recover, build back stronger, and be better prepared for our 99th summer season and beyond at Mitigwa Scout Reservation.
