Three Great Camping Locations

The Mid-Iowa Council has three properties for Scouts to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Each property has a unique setting and amenities for your stay.

Camp Mitigwa
at Mitigwa Scout Reservation

Camp Mitigwa has two ridges with tent camping at Mitigwa Scout Reservation, Casady and Blank. Various campsites include Adirondacks in the sites. Chippewa campsite is a full adirondack site. Navajo campsite has hammock poles if you are a group that needs several hammocking spots. Mitigwa also has one furnace heated and one stove heated cabin.

Camp Akela
at Mitigwa Scout Reservation

Camp Akela is the home of our Cub Scout Camp and is also known as Frankel Ridge the home of the original land that began Camp Mitigwa 101 years ago. Camp Akela has 5 wood stove-heated cabins and 5 campsites. Bear Creek Lodge is also located at Camp Akela and is heated with a professional kitchen for larger events.

Foster Acres

Don’t miss visiting this hidden treasure of the Mid-Iowa Council. Located on the north edge of Ottumwa, Iowa it has miles of hiking trails, 16 campsites, and a heated indoor facility with kitchen and bathrooms. Check rental availability today!

Grinnell Scoutland

This Mid-Iowa Council property has a lodge with a fireplace, water, and electricity. There are 6 campsites, an amphitheater, and hiking trails through out.
